Shadowblade

Shadowblade, Master of Assassins is a Dark Elf Assassin.[1a][2a]

Shadowblade is a young elf, only 150 years old but he has already gained a legendary reputation - tales of his exploits being told as bed time stories or sung by minstrels in Naggaroth.[1a][2a][7]

His sister, Felicion Heartkeeper is a Sorceress.[5]

History

Shadowblade slew his former master Alondir Deathshade in 2416 IC.[3a]

He once slaughtered the entire crew of a High Elf Hawkship, one by one over several days, leaving only the horribly mutilated captain alive to tell the tale.[1a][2a][7]

Following the destruction of a Black Ark by a fleet from Marienburg, the Burgomeister survived an attempt by another assassin and posted more than twenty loyal guards to protect his chambers night and day, some even within his rooms. He was later found dead one morning with more than twenty stab wounds but not a single guard had been harmed or even seen anything.[6][7]

Shadowblade now reports only and directly to Hellebron. She has used him to eliminate many political rivals but she has never sent him after Morathi, but it is unclear whether this is due to the time not being right or that his loyalties are questionable in this one matter.[4b]

When Eltharion and Alith Anar attempted to infiltrate Naggaroth with a small force, Malekith himself ordered Shadowblade to kill Eltharion. The two fought a short duel which ended with the High Elf collapsing thanks to a poisoned graze, but not before he had wounded Shadowblade who was then driven away by Swordmasters.[7]

In 2518 IC he leads a small group of Assassins to Cothique where he poisons the rivers causing a crippling plague. [4a]

Shadowblade in the End Times

After the exodus from Naggaroth, he was dispatched to Ulthuan by Hellebron to act as a spy.[8b]

Following the Battle of Eagle Gate, he attempted to eavesdrop on a meeting between Malekith, Imrik and Teclis but was first distracted by a harpy and then confronted by the Sorceress Drusala.[8a] His mind did not awaken for weeks, his mind having been overcome by Morathi who had been posing as Drusala and under her control marching amongst the army of the Witch King as a member of the Black Guard. As the Battle for the Shrine of Khaine raged, he was awoken by the Sorceress and compelled to attack her son but her influence slowed him enough for Malekith to survive his initial strike.[8b]

Even with a shattered shoulder from the deflected blow and poison coursing through his blood, Malekith lashed out with his magic and a bolt of darkness slammed him against a rock. Although initially stunned by the impact, the enchantment that had enthralled him for so long was broken and his mind was freed. Finding himself in the middle of a fight against his liege he knew he had to flee - luckily Tyrion arrived and attacked the Witch King, giving Shadowblade time to escape.[8b]

He boarded a small High Elf vessel whose crew had chosen death over cooperation with the servant of Khaine, but he was able to sail it alone. He steered towards the fleet of Lokhir Fellheart hoping that the admiral would provide him with safe passage back to the embattled Har Ganeth and his true mistress.[8c]

Rumours and Tales

Some say that he is actually the son of Morathi herself, others that he was trained as a Swordmaster by Belannaer himself.[6][7]
